The title of the 2015 KAFA Campaign on the occasion of the 16 Days Against Violence Against Women, “A law as old as my grandfather cannot be taken seriously” is a reminder that it is unacceptable that personal status laws, most of which were devised more than half a century ago, stay as they are, with their purely patriarchal, mysogynist and backward character, and that it is unacceptable not to have a unified personal law that is civil, fair and ensures equality between the two partners.
